Deborah 2 years old

What a fun 2 year old Deborah is and very independent. She speaks very well and when you ask her how old she is she likes to,say 3 most of the time. She wants to be doing whatever her older siblings are doing. She likes to count to 10 and knows some of her colors like orange and pink. She likes to pick out her own clothes and wants to put them on herself. She is ready to be potty trained but Mom ismnotmready for the challenge yet. I need to wait until William is a little older and my arm is healed.  She loves to sing, go to the gym kids area, play, watch "color tv" show, color, go to nursery, and help with William.

Lunch Date

Brian and I were able to get in a lunch date at Boombuzz. It was very nice and yummy to get away for an hour kid free. Thanks to Christin for watching the little ones!

Deborah, William, and Mom

While Daddy took the 3 oldest out to the movies the 2 youngest were able to hang out with Mom. It was nice and relaxing. Deborah was cute as she kissed William. She also entertained herself with the game Blockus for quite a while which made it nice for me!

Visit from Long time Friends

My friends Stacy and Kelli from high school are the best and came to visit me and meet William. It is wonderful that even when they live far away like China or are just busy with life, that we can always just pick up from where we left off. We actually were able to do a girls night the night before I had my fall and broke my wrist. We stayed up until almost midnight and I loved it! Wish they both lived a little closer to do that more often!

Julia loves Baby William

Julia loves holding William and would do it more if I let her. She wants to help feed him as well. The first two pictures she snuck downstairs when she should be in bed and asked if she could feed him. We of course could not say no. She is a wonderful big sister to him and Deborah!

Introducing William Cardon Smith

William Cardon Smith was born on 8-8-13 at 8:08 pm. He weighed 8 lbs and was 21 3/4 inches long. His head circumference was 14 inches. Everything went so smoothly and we were happy for his safe arrival. My sister Emily took the girls and dropped me off at the hospital at 10 am. I was scheduled for my induction but had to get antibiotics first because I tested positive for group B strep. By the time I checked in and they got me settled it was not until noon that they got the antibiotics started. I just relaxed and was able to order lunch. I told Brian to work as long as he needed to because all he would be doing is sit and be bored. He got to the hospital around 2 pm. I was able to start on pitocin at 4:15. I was already dilated to 5cm and was at least 50% effaced. Dr Lepetich arrived at the hospital at 5 pm and broke my water. He is so awesome and was only there to deliver my baby. He hung out and would come and check on me every half hour or so. I was able to get an epidural shortly after my water was broken since the anesthesiologist was already on the floor. I only felt a couple of strong contractions which was nice. Brian was joking that we had to wait until 8:08 to have him. I thought that there is no way we would need to wait for that time. Well I guess it was meant to be because the time I was ready to push was so close to that time. I only had to push for about 10 minutes and on the final push out it was 8:08 pm. He came out without tearing or a cut being made. He was our biggest baby by 1 1/2 lbs. I was extremely tired once I got the epidural and it continued the rest of the night. William ended up having low blood sugar that needed IV treatment to help. The NICU team was called over and he was taken there for the whole hospital stay. it was nice knowing he was well taken care of and I got a lot of needed rest. I had not slept well the past week due to my broken elbow and being pregnant. We did not officially name him until we got home. We are so happy he is home!

Pregnant with a broken arm

I am excited and nervous because we are having our baby boy tomorrow. To add to this I fractured my left elbow on Friday. Yes I am left handed so it adds to my extra challenge. I slipped on some water at the pool deck and took the fall on my arm to prevent from landing on my belly. The baby is fine which is the most important. The pain has gone down and everyday I am doing my best to do tasks with one arm. I go back to the doctor next week to get an x-ray again and put a cast on it. They say it should take about 6 weeks to heal. It will be an extra challenge when our baby is here but so many have been helping and will continue to help!

First Day of School

Noah started high school today 9th grade and Dean started Kindergarten. They both had a wonderful day and are excited for tomorrow. Dean is in Mrs. Hart's class. She was also my brother Scott's kindergarten teacher 20 years ago. She does not look old enough to be teaching that long. Julia also started another year of preschool and was so excited to be in Mrs Urbina's class again.
