Easter Day

Easter morning I made waffles and then we had the kids open their baskets. We then all sat (or tried to stay in the same room) and watched the Living Scripture movie about the Resurrection of Christ. This year I decided to make Julia an Easter outfit using the new sewing machine I got for my birthday. My friend April was so kind and let me use one of her patterns and told me how to put appliques on the shirt. Overall I was quite happy with the results and am excited to make her another outfit!
I did not get the best pictures because she would not stand still for very long and she doesn't like to keep things in her hair any more.

Brian told me to make sure the Easter bunny got something girly for Julia since all she plays with are Dean's toys. She got a little doll so I hope that was good enough!

Happy kids!

We went to my parents for Easter dinner and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Dean's Early Birthday Party/Family Easter Egg Hunt

We had a birthday party for Dean which included an Easter Egg Hunt with the Cardon side. We ate pizza for dinner at the park and then went across the street to the green belt for the hunt.Uncle Scott took care of Julia while the kids hunted
She did get a couple of eggs to keep her happy

Dean loved another hunt

Dean with his caterpillar cake he picked out from Costco. He chose it one day but then when we were going to pick it up he was wanting a clown cake. It took some persuasion and reminder that he had already picked the caterpillar cake. In the end he loved it!

Julia loved the cake also as Summer fed her some

She is ready for another bite!

Ward Easter Egg Hunt

Our Ward had an Easter Egg Hunt/Breakfast on Saturday Morning. Brian and Noah were at a camp out with the Scouts so it was just Dean, Julia, and I who enjoyed the beautiful morning. The kids had fun!
I couldn't get a very good picture of both of them. I just carried Julia while Dean found the eggs.

Julia is 16 months

Julia is 16 months today! She continues to crawl to get around has been trying to walk more the past week and a half. It is fun to watch her stand up on her own and get super excited. She loses her balance a lot because she tries to walk too fast. I think the most steps I have seen her do is about 12 after she has stood on her own. I was hoping she would walk by Easter but no such luck. We have no idea when she will walk consistently because she seems to take her time on everything. She loves to try to climb and gets stuck a lot. She is great at climbing but not getting down. She also likes to walk on her hands and feet when when she is tired of being on her knees or sometimes will just move on her knees in kneeling position. Her knees are always dry and dirty along with the tops of her feet because she is outside a lot. I transitioned her to one nap about 3 weeks ago just to make it easier on everyone. She usually takes a 2 1/2 and occasionally a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. I try to wait until 7pm to put her down to bed for the night and she usually sleeps until 7am. It gets light so early that even if she goes down later she doesn't sleep in. She still eats great and still only has a few words mama, dada, banana, cracker, and she tries to say fish. She can talk a lot but we just don't understand what she is saying. She has 8 teeth now, 6 on the top. She continues to be fun and is not afraid to use her voice to let us know when she is not happy! We love her so much!

Julia Walking

Julia has been finally starting to take some steps. It is fun to watch how excited she gets. The first video shows her standing up on her own and taking a few steps. The second one is a little funny because she runs into the couch but isn't hurt.

Water Paint

I bought Dean some water paint and he loved it! He got quite messy especially his finger nails. Good thing it is washable.
He also thought it would be fun to paint on Julia!

As you see she did not mind at all!

Swim Lessons

I signed up Julia and Dean for swim lessons. Dean loves it (he did cry the first time for a little bit but has been great since)! Julia has only had one lesson and I have to be in the water with her so no pictures. I got a good deal through groupon so we decided to try it and it has been something fun to do with the kids!

Bowling

We went bowling with some friends and had a blast! We kept Julia with my sister so we could enjoy it even more and brought her oldest sons with us. I bowled very well and had the top score for the first game. I guess I was just having a lot of luck!
Dean loved cheering after he was finished with his turn.

Grandpa Gaisford

My Grandpa Gaisford passed away last night. He would have been 92 this month. He is the last of my grandparents to pass away. He will be missed but we are so happy that he can reunite with Grandma and all his other relatives. It is fun to look back at all the memories I have had with him. Just some of the memories are going to the cabin, his hard work ethic, working at his insurance office, his jokes, going to his house when I was little and eating lunch with him on his break from work, calling me Becky Boo, his singing voice, his charm, golfing, taking lunch or dinner to him during the past couple of years, watching him direct music in church, family home evenings at his home in Phoenix, Trident gum, M&M's, and so much more.I feel so grateful to have always lived close by and to see him often!
One of the last memories I have is taking Dean and Julia to visit him. He would always mention that Dean's great great-grandfather was named Dean. He always would give him M&M's and make funny faces so Dean would laugh. I know Dean won't remember but it will be fun to tell him these things when he gets older.
